Sleeping Pulse is the name of the musical collaboration of Mick Moss (Antimatter) and the Portuguese Luis Fazendeiro (Painted Black). While Painted Black is more Anathema/My Dying Bride metal oriented, the music of Antimatter is more acoustic, triphop with some influence of Anathema. The combination between the two musicians is therefore not as strange as you might think.

Sleeping Pulse combines emotional rock with heavier guitars. Mick only has to focus on his singing. The result is that his remarkable rock voice sounds brilliant and more diverse than ever. The music of Luis on this album combines the best elements of the rock music by Antimatter and - again - Anathema. The result is a homogenous, but still diverse and vibrant (progressive) rock album.

All the songs on “Under The Same Sky” are nicely built and greatly produced by Daniel Cardozo (Anathema), even if the music takes a step back in pace and heaviness. To be clear, Sleeping Pulse is no copycat of any of the mentioned bands, but delivers an outstanding performance with the same basic elements of the music of the other bands. Although it’s not easy to mention any highlights, because of the high quality of all the songs, you should listen to these songs to get an idea of all the beauty Sleeping Pulse has to offer: ‘Backfire‘, ‘The Puppeteer‘, ‘The Blind Lead The Blind‘, ‘Noose’, ‘War’ and ‘Painted Rust’.
